What Does a Joinery Warranty Cover? Al Malek’s 10-Year Warranty Explained

Short answer: Al Malek Carpentry gives a 10-year warranty on its own manufacturing and installation defects for kitchens, wardrobes, dressing rooms, majlis seating and other custom joinery in Ras Al Khaimah. It starts at installation handover, once the project is fully paid. Hardware, LED lighting and worktops follow their makers’ warranties, and water damage depends on the board you choose.

What the 10-year warranty covers

The warranty covers faults that come from our workshop or our installation team, for example:

  • joints, cabinet bodies or panels that fail because of how we built them
  • doors or drawers that drop or go out of alignment because of our installation
  • worktops that move or fail because of our installation (the worktop material itself follows the maker’s warranty)

If a covered fault appears, we repair or replace the affected part free of charge.

What depends on the board you choose

Water resistance is a property of the board, so we explain the options before you decide, and your choice is written on the quotation.

  • WPC board: waterproof, with a lifetime warranty on the board itself. This is why we recommend it for sink areas and bathroom vanities.
  • MDF, MR MDF and MFC: MR MDF handles humidity better than standard MDF, but none of these boards is waterproof, so water damage is not covered.
  • Solid wood: it is not ruined by water, but it naturally shrinks and swells with heat and air-conditioning, and joints can open. This natural movement is not a defect.

Hardware, LED lighting and worktops

  • Hinges, runners and fittings: covered by the brand’s own warranty, usually 3 to 5 years. We use German and Italian hardware.
  • LED lighting we supply: 1-year brand warranty.
  • Worktops we supply: covered by the maker’s warranty card, which we hand over at installation. Breakage, cracks and chips in natural marble and quartz are not covered.

What the warranty does not cover

Our warranty covers defects in our own work, not damage from outside causes. It does not cover:

  • water damage on MDF, MR MDF, MFC, plywood or solid wood, including damage from leaks, damp walls or plumbing faults in the building
  • natural movement of solid wood caused by heat and air-conditioning
  • fading or colour loss on exterior doors exposed to direct sun
  • misuse, accidents or impact damage, or overloading shelves, drawers and doors beyond normal household use
  • damage from harsh or abrasive cleaning products, or from heat and steam from appliances used without the recommended clearance
  • normal wear and tear from daily use, such as light scratches or worn edges
  • repairs, alterations, removal or re-installation carried out by anyone other than Al Malek Carpentry
  • appliances, sinks, taps and other items supplied by the customer or by other contractors
  • structural movement or settlement of the building after installation

Frequently asked questions

When does the warranty start?

It starts on the day we hand over the installation, as long as the project is fully paid. Keep your invoice, because we ask for the invoice number when you make a claim.

Is water damage covered?

Only on WPC board, which carries a lifetime warranty on the board itself. MDF, MR MDF, MFC, plywood and solid wood are not covered for water damage. We explain this before you choose, and your choice is noted on the quotation.

Does the warranty transfer if I sell my villa?

No. The warranty applies to the original customer only. New owners can still contact us for repairs and service, which are charged at a fair rate.

What happens after the 10 years?

We continue to support our customers. Repairs after the warranty period are charged at a fair rate, and we inspect and give a quotation before any work starts.

How quickly do you respond to a claim?

We arrange an inspection visit within 3 to 5 working days of receiving your message with the invoice number and photos.

Is the warranty void if someone else repairs my kitchen or wardrobe?

Repairs, alterations or re-installation by anyone other than Al Malek Carpentry are not covered, and any damage they cause is excluded. The rest of your warranty stays in place, so please contact us first if something needs attention.
